Job Title: Chorus Manager, Young Singers of Charlotte (Part-Time)
Location: Charlotte, NC

Position Overview
The Charlotte Master Chorale seeks a compassionate, organized, and enthusiastic Youth Chorus Manager to support the Young Singers of Charlotte, the organization’s new youth choir for singers in grades 9–12.

Reporting to the Managing Director, this part-time position supports the administrative, logistical, and communication needs of the ensemble while helping foster a positive, inclusive, and student-centered musical environment. The Youth Chorus Manager serves as a key liaison among students, families, volunteers, and artistic leadership, helping create a joyful and enriching experience for young singers in the Charlotte community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and supervise weekly rehearsals, performances, and youth chorus events;
  • Manage ensemble logistics, attendance, music distribution, and student records;
  • Coordinate auditions, onboarding materials, and family communications;
  • Serve as the primary liaison between students, families, volunteers, and program leadership;
  • Collaborate with staff, accompanists, and volunteers to support ensemble operations;
  • Assist with recruitment and retention efforts;
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for all singers; and
  • Encourage the growth of students not only as musicians, but as confident and compassionate young people.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with high school-aged youth in a choral, educational, or youth programming setting required;
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to supervise, engage, and support young singers in a positive and inclusive environment;
  • Excellent administrative and time management skills;
  • Experience with Google Workspace and related communication tools preferred;
  • Evening and occasional weekend availability required;
  • Successful completion of a background check required; and
  • Undergraduate degree preferred.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Part-time position averaging approximately 5 hours per week during the school year;
  • Weekly rehearsals on Tuesday evenings from 6:30–8:30 PM;
  • Attendance required at all rehearsals, performances, auditions, and ensemble events;
  • Approximately 24 weeks of regular activity during the academic year, with occasional summer responsibilities;
  • Compensation: $20/hour.

Location
Rehearsals are held at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC.

Job Title: Ensemble Pianist, Young Singers of Charlotte (Part-Time)

Position Overview

The Charlotte Master Chorale seeks a skilled and collaborative Ensemble Pianist for the Young Singers of Charlotte, the organization’s youth choir for singers in grades 9–12.

Reporting to the Youth Chorus Director, this part-time position will provide piano accompaniment for rehearsals, performances, auditions, and sectional rehearsals while helping foster a positive, engaging, and student-centered musical environment. The ideal candidate is a versatile pianist with strong sight-reading skills, experience accompanying choral ensembles, and the ability to perform confidently in a variety of musical styles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide piano accompaniment for weekly rehearsals, performances, auditions, and ensemble events;
  • Collaborate closely with the Youth Chorus Director to support rehearsals and musical preparation;
  • Assist with sectional rehearsals as needed;
  • Accompany a diverse range of repertoire and musical styles;
  • Demonstrate strong sight-reading and open score-reading abilities;
  • Help foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for young singers; and
  • Attend all scheduled rehearsals, dress rehearsals, performances, and related ensemble activities.

Qualifications

  • Strong piano performance and collaborative accompanying skills required;
  • Excellent sight-reading and ability to read open choral scores required;
  • Ability to perform confidently in a variety of musical styles, including Gospel music;
  • Experience accompanying choirs or youth ensembles preferred;
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills;
    Passion for working with and encouraging young musicians;
  • Evening and occasional weekend availability required;
  • Successful completion of a background check required; and
  • Undergraduate degree preferred.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Part-time position during the academic year;
  • Weekly rehearsals on Tuesday evenings from 6:30–8:30 PM;
  • Additional rehearsals, auditions, sectionals, and performances as scheduled;
  • Approximately 2 hours per week on average, plus performances and special events;
  • Compensation: hourly rate commensurate with experience

Rehearsals are held at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC.
