A cherished Charlotte holiday tradition returns, bringing seasonal reflection and choral music together in a shared act of story and song.

WDAV-FM Classical Public Radio and the Charlotte Master Chorale Chamber Singers present Charlotte Lessons and Carols, under the direction of Assistant Conductor Philip Biedenbender. Rooted in the long-standing tradition of paired scripture readings and carols, this program traces the arc of the Christmas story through music, moving from quiet anticipation to radiant joy.

This year’s concert includes a special guest appearance by the Young Singers of Charlotte, Charlotte Master Chorale’s new youth chorus in their inaugural season led by Aj Calpo, bringing a fresh intergenerational voice to this annual celebration.

Presented with the support of WDAV-FM Classical Public Radio and St. John’s Baptist Church, this annual performance remains one of Charlotte’s most meaningful shared musical traditions.
