Charlotte Master Chorale Managing Director
(part-time)


The Charlotte Master Chorale, the resident chorus of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, invites applications for a part-time Managing Director.

Title: Managing Director, Development and Operations

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees Development
    • Chairs Development Committee
    • Identifies new sponsorship opportunities in collaboration with Development Committee; coordinates strategic plan for each opportunity (.e.g., who should approach, who should attend a meeting, alternatives regarding benefits to be offered, etc.)
    • Identifies and/or researches new donor opportunities (individuals, small businesses), creates plan, drives logistics for discussion with Artistic Director (or other identified contact)
    • Completes and executes a tiered donor program
    • Leads the completion (full design) of a feasible fund raiser
    • Assists in the identification of grant opportunities and serves as primary grant writer*
       
  • Assists and Collaborates with Marketing
    • Collaborates with Marketing on planning and execution of major campaigns and fund raisers
    • Collaborates and assists Marketing Committee on performance promotions as appropriate
    • Assists chorus manager with planning front-of-house operations
  • Manages Operations
    • Oversees the securement of locations, guest performers, contracting, and payments
    • Serves as primary communications liaison to chorus manager
    • Oversees operational elements of rehearsals and performances to be executed by chorus manager
       
  • Assists Artistic Director and Board of Directors
    • Collaborates with Artistic Director in seasonal planning
    • Actively participates in BOD meetings and communicates relevant items to non-BOD personnel (e.g., chorus manager, third parties)
    • Works with Treasurer to manage budget
    • Supports Executive Committee and Committee Chairs as required
       
  • Other duties as assigned
     
  • Reports to Artistic Director

Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in Music
Minimum three years working experience post undergraduate degree
Working knowledge of current software applications (i.e. Word, Excel, etc…)

Qualifications Preferred
Master’s degree in Music or Arts Administration
Grant writing skills

Hours and Compensation
Role is envisioned as ~20-25 hours per week with a salary of $20–$23K.  Candidates must be flexible in hours and times as workload fluctuates.
